SMS Policy

This page explains how The Pained Brain uses text messaging, what you are agreeing to when you give us your mobile number, and how to stop messages at any time.

Effective date: September 11, 2026

Your consent

By providing your mobile phone number to The Pained Brain — on a form, or in conversation with our staff — you consent to receive text (SMS) messages from us at that number, in reply to what you asked us about. Consent to receive text messages is never a condition of anything we provide, and you may decline or withdraw it at any time.

What we send

  • A reply to a question or request you sent us
  • Follow-up on a conversation you started
  • Confirmation that we received something from you, or that we need something further

We do not send marketing or promotional texts, and we do not send bulk or broadcast messages. Every text we send is a response to a request you or someone acting for you has made. We do not text people who have not given us their number, and we do not add numbers to any list. The Pained Brain does not provide medical care, so we send nothing about appointments, treatment or billing — we have none.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies. It depends on what you asked us and how the conversation goes. We do not send a fixed number of messages per week or month.

Message and data rates

Standard message and data rates may apply, according to the plan you hold with your mobile carrier. Those charges are yours, not ours, and we have no control over them.

How to stop messages

Reply STOP to any message from us. We will send one confirmation that you have been unsubscribed, and then stop, except where a message is required by law or is a necessary administrative notice. You can also ask any staff member to remove your number.

Reply HELP for help, or contact us at info@thepainedbrain.com.

Carrier liability

Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is not guaranteed.

Who sees your number

We share your mobile number with our SMS delivery provider for the sole purpose of delivering messages on our behalf. That provider is contractually prohibited from using your number for its own marketing or for any unrelated purpose. We do not sell your mobile number, and we do not share it with third parties or affiliates for their marketing.

Access, correction and deletion

You may ask us at any time to tell you what mobile contact information we hold for you, to correct it, or to delete it. Contact us at info@thepainedbrain.com. We will act on your request promptly.

Text messaging is not a secure or urgent channel

Do not send medical or personal health information by text. Ordinary SMS is not encrypted and is not a protected channel. If you need to discuss clinical detail, speak to your own prescriber or clinician — not to us.

Do not use text messaging for an emergency. Messages are not monitored around the clock and may not be read for some time. If you are having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department. If you are in crisis or thinking of harming yourself, call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
